I have been so moved by the outpouring of love from all around the world for our beloved Madiba. Flags at half mast, flowers and memorials, national days of mourning and dedications everywhere! I feel so proud to be South African and to have lived in the time of Nelson Mandela.
The memorial service will draw something like 400mil viewers, US President Barack Obama accompanied by three of his predecessors: Jimmy Carter, George W Bush, Bill Clinton, their spouses, and 26 congressmen. Also Brazilian president Dilma Rousseff would be accompanied by four former heads of state. UK Prime Minister David Cameron, as well as all living previous Prime Ministers. Fidel Castro will also be there, the first time in a very long time that him and a US President will be in the same place let alone sharing a stage.
Some other famous faces include Oprah Winfrey, Bono, Charlize Theron, Francois Pienaar, The Spice Girls, Kofi Annan, Naomi Campbell and Richard Branson – just to name a few.
Not to mention all the South African dignitaries like F.W de Klerk, Desmund Tutu, Helen Zille and important people. Basically anyone who is anyone in world is in our country to pay their final respects.
