The first restaurant we went to in Prague was Restaurant Cafe u Tyna. The reason for this was twofold, 1 it was on the Old Town Square looking out over all the activities and things happening on the square. 2 it served traditional Czech cuisine.
Not being familiar with what that entails at all, we just had to give it a try and we were not disappointed! We ordered veal with asparagus and some kind of heavenly potato cheese thing – wow! We devoured it in minutes. We also had some local beer to accompany it – yum!
I should mention that the waiters although generally incredibly efficient are not by any means warm or welcoming. We struggled to get even the tiniest crack of a smile out of any of our waiters and being from overly friendly SA this did take some getting used to!
