Party Cove

in Adventure

With 4th of July falling in the middle of the week this year, the weekend before became the official party weekend! This was my first 4th of July in the states and I was super excited to do something crazy fun!

Well I can tell you with certainty that what we ended up doing was so much fun and for sure a completely crazy / surreal experience.

Our friend Tim got a speedboat for the day and a group of us went out on Lewisville Lake and specifically to “Party Cove”. This is an area of the lake where all the mischief happens. It’s quite a sight to see, as I have always tried to imagine it in my head but the reality was kind of overwhelming. About 100 boats (all kinds, speedboats, cruisers, catamarans)  get tied to one another side by side and then they form a type of enclosure around the people in the middle. This creates a type of pool within the lake where everyone can swim and drink and play – amongst other things!

It was awesome! Each boat played there own laud music, people of all shapes and sizes everywhere dancing and chatting (screaming would probably be a more accurate word). It was such a bizarre experience – if I compare it to Clifton beach, basically take everyone on the beach and then just place them in the ocean and you will start to get an idea of what it looks like.

I also saw some sights that I must admit will haunt me for life. Some people really just shouldn’t be out in public unsupervised ha ha – here are a few PG examples of what my camera captured.

We swam around and partied until we couldn’t anymore and then we headed back into the main lake to do some wakeboarding.

Here’s a clip of Robert wakeboarding.
