While Danielle was here visiting, South Africa celebrated it’s Heritage Day, or as we like to call it: National Braai Day. For those of you that are not familiar with the word “braai”, it’s basically the same as grilling or bbq. So everyone in SA is encouraged to embrace and celebrate our heritage by having a braai with friends and family and that is exactly what we did!
Our friends hosted us for a big braai, with so much steak, chops and “boerewors” we could stomach as well as all the best salads, potato salad being my favourite and some chakalaka bread – yum!
We ended the day off roasting marshmallows on the fire and making s’mores! A great introduction for her to our culture and in my opinion the best way to spend a day!
