SUMMER in Cape Town! The most beautiful time of the year! While Robert was here we tried to squeeze in as many beach days as possible. Last time I posted about Glen beach, today I want to tell you about Dolphin Beach, located in the stunning Bloubergstrand area.
This beach stretches kilometers and kilometers wide of white sea sand and has the best view of Table Mountain in Cape Town. This area is quite windy and therefore this beach is considered one of the best spots in the world for kite surfing – some days you can hardly make out Table Mountain as the horizon is filled with kites as far as the eye can see. On a beautiful wind still day, the beach will be packed with families and the waves full of surfers.
One thing to note is that the water is freezing cold! Surfers all wear wetsuits and only on the hottest days will you see people playing in the waves. Another great view from Dolphin beach is Robben Island which is about 7km away – this is where Nelson Mandela spent a huge part of his prison sentence years ago.
I love this beach and we often take our dogs for walks here.
