I have never warmed to the idea of running, I just couldn’t see why people liked it. About a year ago I don’t know what came over me but all of a sudden I wanted to start running. Of course first thing I did was buy some fancy running shoes and get my running pants and tops etc then all that was left was the small matter of actually starting to run. Easier said than done I tell you.
My first attempt at running ended with me choking for air and nauseous hugging my pillow for a whole day – NOT successful! Since then I have slowly been easing my way into running by walking on the treadmill and incorporating it with some running. I am by no means running fit yet, but I am enjoying it and feeling a bit more confident.
So when Robert told me that there was this fun run for charity happening at White Rock Lake and that he was planning on doing it I thought it would be the perfect debut for me. I was still petrified as I had not been training for this and had never ran 5km and the morning of the race my heart was beating so fast!
I started off just walking the first bit and then when I was warmed up I ran and pretty much just did that for the entire 5km. It was more fun than I thought it would be and definitely want to do another one!
