Lopez Island

We spent one day in Seattle and the next day we were off to the beautiful Lopez Island to spend Thanksgiving weekend.

The island forms part of the San Juan Islands and is about an hours drive from Seattle and then from there you get on the ferry to take you across to the Lopez Island. The ride there on the ferry was beautiful although VERY cold!

We lived in the coolest house, right on the water with amazing views. It was such a lovely and chilled atmosphere, the island is fairly small with only 2000 permanent residents and they are all super friendly – they are famous for waving at everyone! We spent most of our time just hanging out in the house and feasting of all the delicious food! One day we took an excursion out to Iceberg Point which is at the southern tip of Lopez Island overlooking the Strait of Juan de Fuca – the views are spectacular and you can hike all the way to the tip. Actually reminded me a bit of Cape Point.

It was also really special to be spending this holiday with Robert’s whole family, we flew up there with his parents and met up with his siblings: Shirley, Tina and Matthew. I love his family so much – we had a great time!
